Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy is expected to make his season debut in Week 2 when the Broncos take on the Washington Commanders. The Broncos offense was efficient in Week 1 in their loss to the Washington Commanders, scoring 2.6 points per drive. The good thing here was that they only had six offensive drives, which was the lowest amount of drives in a game in over 20 years.
Don’t listen to those national NFL people who claim that Russell Wilson played poorly or that the Denver Broncos’ offense was bad. They were not. They were good, but they were missing. that player in the lineup. Denver barely threw the ball down the field and Jeudy not being in the lineup was a big reason the team didn’t win.
Well, it’s back. He is expected to make his season debut on Sunday against the Washington Commanders, and I believe he will be given a very important role in the offense today. Russell Wilson is going to feed Jeudy simply because he is an elite route runner who can get open. In fact, the fourth-year receiver almost died in Week 1, but hamstring injuries can be complicated.
In 2022, even playing in the worst scoring offense in the NFL, Jeudy had the best year of his career. He had six touchdown receptions along with 972 yards receiving and 1,012 yards from scrimmage. The Denver Broncos exercised their fifth-year option, which was an easy decision. To me, 2023 will likely be a stable and efficient year for Denver’s offense, so I would hope Jeudy can reach the 1,000-yard receiving mark.
That would surely start negotiations between the two sides on a contract extension, and if you look at Sean Payton’s previous head coaching history, you’ll see that he’s always had a star receiver on offense, and I think Jerry Jeudy is going to be that kind.
He is their best offensive player and can really hurt a defense in multiple ways. One thing I think goes unnoticed for Jeudy is his speed. He has 4.4 speed and can outrun a lot of defensive backs, but his bread and butter is his route running.
