Packers vs. Odds Falcons for Week 2 have Atlanta as a slight favorite entering this NFC battle between undefeated teams.
The Packers and Falcons had big wins in Week 1 against division rivals. In the NFC, where the final wild card spots should be fairly open, this could be a key early matchup. It’s also intriguing and features young quarterbacks like Jordan Love and Desmond Ridder, plus the eighth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Bijan Robinson.
Let’s preview this Week 2 NFL game between Green Bay and Atlanta and then make a pick between the Packers and Falcons.
Packers vs. Hawks
Analysis of confrontations
The Packers had one of the most impressive performances of Week 1. They played rival Chicago in a place where the Bears were hoping to finally prove that they are better than the Packers in the post-Aaron Rodgers era.
However, Jordan Love and company had other plans. Love didn’t have the most efficient performance, but he made big throws when needed and helped the Packers score 38 points.
Defensively, the Packers did a great job containing Justin Fields. Jaire Alexander did the essential job of taking DJ Moore out of the game, allowing the rest of the Packers defense to take the fight game away from Fields.
Atlanta also opened its eyes in Week 1. Playing in the most open division in American football, the NFC South, the Falcons showed that they have a good chance of taking the crown.

It was always going to be difficult for Bryce Young in his first career road start, but the Falcons did a very good job of applying pressure at the right times and staying strong in coverage, forcing mistakes from the rookie quarterback.
Offensively, the Falcons’ running game worked as advertised. There was a much bigger split between Tyler Allgeier and Bijan Robinson than some people expected, but they still both averaged 5.0+ yards per carry. This allowed Desmond Ridder to have things easy. Ridder will never be able to beat a team with dazzling arm talent at this point in his career. That’s why I’m really impressed with the way head coach Arthur Smith called the game.
Ridder threw for 115 yards, but had an 83% completion percentage and didn’t turn the ball over. The Falcons would like to see those yardage numbers improve, but this formula gives them their best chance for success.
In this matchup, having Alexander is almost a waste for the Packers. The Falcons don’t have a truly elite WR1 for Alexander to take out of the game.
Ridder showed last week that he will look to hit his back out of the backfield and find Kyle Pitts in the middle of the field. This weakens the Packers’ defense.
Meanwhile, the Falcons’ secondary looked solid and should be able to limit Love in the places where he had success against the Bears.
The Falcons’ running game should help them dominate the momentum of the possession battle and keep the ball out of Love’s hands. I hope they destroy the Packers.

Betting Picks and Predictions
The Falcons were expected to take care of business against the Panthers, while the Packers won as underdogs in the division. For that reason, I think the Packers are the team slightly overvalued by the market here. In addition to the matchups on the field, the market is crying out to take the Falcons.
Atlanta opened as short underdogs, but big-money bets have made them short favorites. The short moneyline appears to be the safest path in what could be a close, low-scoring game.
