The Global Finals took place in London in front of a packed stadium with over three thousand fans. The event also achieved a peak online viewership of 378,316 AMAs. The continued success of the Warzone World Series can only mean bigger and brighter events in the future. You can see who won in the official statement below:
The tournament was the first of its kind to host an in-person audience and, as a result, was undoubtedly the most successful to date. The event boasted a staggering peak audience of 378,316 AMA, which is not surprising given WSOW’s unprecedented growth in recent years, with a total of 80,793 contestants entering the tournament since its inception in 2021.
The format of the tournament meant that there were two competitions for fans to enjoy, the WSOW trios competition and the iconic SoloYolo competition. The top 50 trios in the world competed in the first, with Biffle, Sage and Shifty winning and taking home the $100,000 prize. The exciting final went down to the wire, with Team Biffle winning the final game with 24 kills (125 total).
Biffle, winner of the Trio Squad competition, stated: “The fact that this tournament was in person made winning this year even more special. The atmosphere was amazing and has helped engage a much wider community which is very promising to see! Esports as a sport is something we are really passionate about and having such a large support network has been really overwhelming.”
As for the SoloYolo format, 150 players qualified for the WSOW Global Finals battled it out, but it was Skullface who took home the $100,000 prize, with Authorized and bbreadman narrowly missing out. Skullface secured his victory with a bold tenth and final kill, in what was one of the most action-packed Call of Duty: Warzone matches ever. You can see the winning moment, here.
Following his victory, Skullface told fans: “The support shown at in-person esports tournaments shows how far this industry has come in terms of popularity and engagement. Arriving first has been a real pleasure in such an emblematic place.”
